Establishment of the Junior College of Arts/ Commerce/ Science/MCVC 1976-
The academic system of Maharashtra State took a radical turn in 1976 with the inception of 10 + 2 + 3 pattern of education. The Junior College was established in June 1976wide letter no. 1996/13972 A with Arts and Commerce stream. In the year 1981 science stream was started in college. It is operated in the same college premises at the time of afternoon.
New approach, the Management of Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj, Nashik decided to accord admission preference to local students with a minimum marks and this opened the door of opportunities to students largely belonging to the lower income group and residing in the rural area. This has been a radical departure from the elitism traditionally practiced in the educational field and thus ushered in a silent socio-economic revolution through the medium of higher education.
The tireless efforts of our teaching faculty has become all the more conspicuous in extracting good performance and better percentage of success from the mediocre students. In the year 2008-09, our percentage of successful candidates was 100% in Arts/Commerce /Science/MCVC (Minimum Competency in Vocational Course) and about 90% in other academic courses. The result of our XII Arts, Science, Commerce, MCVC students has always been at par with the result of the Nasik Board although the cut-off point at the entry level was between 35% to 45% for Arts, 45% to 55% for Commerce, for Science above 55 % & for MCVC above 45% in the academic year 2009-10. We grant opportunities to the ATKT students of MH-SSC board & admit them.
Thus, slowly and silently there is emerging a virtual convergence between the vision and the reality. The feedback at the entry and the exit levels obtained through questionnaires from time to time only confirms this emerging trend.
Our Institution reached a new milestone on 16 June 1969 with the establishment of the Junior College of IT and Computer Science. The objective was to cater to the local demands. Two years later, the Computer Science degree courses were started as per demands.
Our junior college has separate NSS unit consisting of nearly 200 boys and girls volunteers conducting regular NSS activities during the NSS camps and throughout the year. The convener of this unit has been awarded the Best NSS co-ordinators of Nasik region. Our NSS unit published a NS bulletin from time to time. The NSS activities are conducted under the guidance of the Head of the Institute MVP Samaj. Nashik.
The Junior college can also participate in the NCC by fulfilling the terms and conditions of NCC. Our NCC cadets attend and participate various NCC camps and training programs which are useful for their future life.
Most of the Junior College students participate in various sports activities. They have shown their skills at Sinnar Tahasil, Nashik District and state level competition. In the academic year 2007-08 our eight participants played at state level competitions. In 2008-09 ten participants and 2009-10 thirteen participants played at state level successfully. These participants were awarded additional 25 marks from the HSC board which benefitted these students.
